Fun Things To Do At Lake Lure This Summer

Lake LureLocated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Lake Lure is one of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the country offering many outdoor and indoor activities to adventurers of all ages.

You can take a peaceful walk on the boardwalk year-round for free or head over to the Lake Lure Golf Club. Enjoy a picnic by the lake or shop and eat delicious food in the Village of Chimney Rock. Lake Lure is the place to be this summer in the Western North Carolina Mountains and we have put together our summer MUST do list at Lake Lure. 

Canopy Ridge Farm

Hold on tight and soar through the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains with the zip-line tour at Canopy Ridge Farm. Average zip-line tours last around an hour and a half and rates vary by age. If heights aren't your thing they also offer kayaking tours through the lower Rocky Bridge River. All of their tours are professionally guided and all necessary equipment is provided. Canopy Ridge Farm is located off of the Rocky Bridge River just below Lake Lure and is open March through December. Reservations are required for both zip-lining and kayaking tours. Chimney Rock State Park

Featuring mountain hiking trails, beginner rock climbing, amazing geology, signature special events, and waterfalls. Chimney Rock State Park is only 25 miles from Asheville and claims it has all the best parts of North Carolina in one. You can ride the 26-story elevator to the top or take the road less traveled and take the route up 500 steps to the top of Chimney Rock. From the top, you can see out 75-miles overlooking Lake gLure and the Hickory Nut Gorge. Hickory Nut Falls is one of the many places to do while at Chimney Rock State Park. The filming location of the movie The Last of The Mohicans, it is a spectacular 404-foot waterfall only a 0.75 mile hike from the parking area of Chimney Rock State Park. Dirty Dancing Festival - August 24-25, 2018

Dirty Dancing was filmed in Lake Lure, NC and Mountain Lake, VA. Scenes in Lake Lure were filmed at the old Boys Camp, which is now a private, residential community known as Firefly Cove. Lake Lure is hosting a Dirty Dancing Festival to help relive the memories of Baby's first dance. The festival will feature a FREE Lakeside movie screening at Morse Park Meadows. The Festival will continue on Saturday with live music, dance lessons, lake lift competition, games, beer, and much more. Don't miss out on having the time of your life!

Lake Lure Olympiad - August 10-12, 2018

If you aren't into dancing, get to running at the Lake Lure Olympiad. The Lake Lure Olympiad will be held the same weekend as the Dirty Dancing Festival. The Lake Lure Olympiad is a 3-day family sports event that helps give back to many organizations. You can compete in a sprint triathlon, junior Olympiad, 10K Dam run, Race to the Rock and a 2-Mile Open Water Championship. There’s plenty to do and see for families and non-athletes, including games, a beach BBQ, free water ski show and fireworks display. Don't miss out on all the fun while helping give back!
